Hi Suzilad,

Yes, I saw that one but after a quick look at census, couldn't find her to verify it was the daughter of John and Margaret Louise.

There is a George Findlay born 1849 Scotland who marries Lucy Mayfield in Alabama in 1899 - would he belong to your Findlay clan  ???

This is George in 1900 - Greensboro, Hale, Alabama.

George Findlay 51 Born Scotland May 1849.  Immigrated 1871. NA. Married 1899. Merchant. Hdware.

Food for thought - so will post just incase.
Perhaps this is another coincidence but there is a George Findlay, birth year 1849 Scotland married to a Margaret and living in Philadelphia in 1880 and one of his children is called Lovett.
In reply 15 we had Adeline Lovett Findlay (daughter of John and Margaret Louise)  ::)

Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1880

George Findley 31 Born Scotland. Rope Maker.
Margaret Findley 33 Born Scotland.
George Findley 11 Born Scotland.
Charles Findley 9 Born PA
Lovett Findley 5 Born PA

In 1900 Philadelphia Ward 37, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The description for Margaret could read D = divorce or it could be a very bad Wd for widowed.  ???

Charles Findlay 26 Head. Born PA
Margaret Findlay 52 Mother. Born May 1847 Scotland. Had 3 children and 3 living. Housekeeper.
Lovett Findlay 21 Born PA. Machinist.
Eugene Kerrigan 32 Boarder.

Same family 1910 Philadelphia Ward 37, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Lovett Findlay 31 Born PA. Head. Machinsit. Machine Tools.
Margaret Findlay 63 Born Scotland. Mother. Married 1 for 42 years Had 3 children 2 survived
Eugene Kerrigan 46 Boarder.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MGQM-H1X

Suspect Margaret died between 1910 and 1920 because Lovett Findlay and Eugene Kerrigan are the only ones that show n 1920 and 1930
1920 - https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MF1J-T63
1930 - https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XHWG-QTN

Lovett Findlay  - Born: 5 Dec 1878 and Died: Nov 1951
SSN was issued in Pennsylvania (Before 1951)

Hi Sandra,
I believe the George Findlay you refer to in your replies 21/22 is John Campbell Findlays brother who

was born in Blairgowrie Perthshire c 1849 . The son of George Findlay and Janet ( Janey or Jessie Findlay m.s. Campbell )as it

was all pre 1855 I  have as yet been unable to find certs. but I do know that George registered his grandfathers death in 1865 Dundee.

The other George you posted just in case  at the moment I am not sure of . The other Findlays in this tree travelled the world

ended up all over the place.

As yet I have not found  a birth for Margaret Lovett or a marriage to George but tomorrow is another day.

Once again thank you very very much.

Your are a star and all this is much appreciated. ;D

suzilad :)
