Thanks everyone- I tried compatability view -which seemed to work ok, though given what Ray says i don't want to leave my computer or the site open to malicious attack. I then tried falcybe's suggestion -holding down the ctrl button when clicking on the number -brilliant! Not only do I not lose the original list but I can also select several possibles and compare them instead of clicking back and forth- great suggestion -thank you! :)
Cooper- Berks, Herts, Wrexham,Birmingham
Garrett- London, Berks
Morton-Berkshire
Harvey- Essex
Hambling, Royal,Dale,Jackson, Tann, Boatwright Edridge/Etheridge/Uttridge -all Norfolk

I have this morning just started getting the annoying beep and then the bar across the top of the page which says IE has modified this page to help prevent cross site scripting.

I use IE8 and am still on good ole XP  ::)

I tried the compatibilty view thing at the top of the page but it's still doing it.

So flipping annoying.

I use XP and IE8 and am getting this warning about cross scripting when I view some, but not all, boards on Rootschat, including this one.
Could it be a result of MS updates or is something dangerous lurking on these boards?
GRAY - Inveresk; Lanarkshire
LINDSAY - Lanarkshire
PURDIE - Lanarkshire; W. Lothian
POZZI - Elgin; Lancashire
MACKENZIE, MORISON - Stornoway
ARCHIBALD, HAY, HUNTER, SNADDON - Clackmannanshire
COXON, HALL, JACKSON, SHOTTON - Northumberland

If you scan around when you've had the beep & message, you'll probably see that # symbol in the slot near the top of the page where banner ads appear.

There seems to be a horde of these things at present.

Personally I'd rather have the squawk than the awful flashing animations which would otherwise fill the space.
Looking at ALSTON in south Ribble area, ALSTEAD and DONBAVAND/DUNBABIN etc. everywhere, HOWCROFT and MARSH in Bolton and Westhoughton, PICKERING in the Whitehaven area.
