I have just made one small change to FTM 2012 and applied the Sync. The progress chart tells me that 78 Source citations are going to be changed in 29 people!

BE CAREFUL AND NOTE WHAT IS BEING CHANGED. Fortunatley I do a manual sync and cancelled.

Hi all,

A Happy New Year to all, and I do mean all ! :D

I think that the only sensible course of action for anyone having problems with FTM2012 is to stop using it until the obvious problems are fixed.

Ensure that you have adequate copies of all your work and (if you can) return to what you were using before.

From my experience, I wouldn't necessarily say stop using FTM 2012, but I would certainly agree with those who say stop using Tree Sync, which is what I'll be doing.

A minor issue but I see that some of the punctuation in Notes on Ancestry appears as a string of characters in FTM 2012. This was not a problem in FTM 2011.

I  have unlinked FTM.

...just read the very detailed forum thread as suggested by Judesman.....not good reading!!!
and I think for the forseeable future I shall be sticking with FTM2012 and NOT syncing.

Judesman....I did notice that if I closed and reopened the internet connection was established and could thus see my invitees....just another little glitch we could do without :(

Has anyone seen or used the Patch referred to in the forum thread?

Jo
...and yes I too have the string of characters in place of punctuation marks, thought I had caused it!!!

just did 'one final' sync...a last chance if you like.....and it seems to have worked!!! ;D
All my media appears to be intact, same number if individuals in both trees.....my invitees are where I left them...first successful sync since 20 December.

I haven't noticed the string of characters  in my tree...
...yet!

As to the patch, when I started FTM a few days  ago, I received notification that I had to apply the patch for FTM to run. If in FTM you click on help then about Family Tree Maker you should see the version. The latest version is 21.0.0.466
If that's your version, then you have the latest version. If it's not, then try clicking on "check for updates".

Jo, be very careful to watch what is being updated when you sync. I did not want to alter 78 Source Ctations.

Braindead, look for quotaton marks and apostrophes.

I am emailing ancestry.com support in USA.  If I get a response I will post back.

I remembered your experience Judesman....so was watching for that!
There was one conflicting notation, which when I looked at it, was all ampersands and colons!!!
As I could no longer decipher it (think it may have been the ref to GRO index for grandads marriage..I deleted it, so will see what happens when I reattach it later!
