WOW. I've found the family on the 1861 census still living in Whiting Street. He has remarried to someone called Sarah, but beside John's name is something I've never seen before: "died on Tuesday night"!!! (difficult to read but may be 'Tuesday')

John Eden 52 carpenter
Sarah wife 38
Alice daur 13
Susan daur 6
Louisa daur 5
Elizabeth dau 2
all born Bury St Edmunds
RG9/1140/86/16

(father and son both died at 52  :()

The 1861 census was taken from midnight on Sunday/Monday - 7 & 8th April, so wonder if John was still at home even though he had died several days before? I was unaware that a deceased person would be listed on the census ...  :-\

Hi suzi,

You may already know that there is quite an interesting Eden family tree on Ancestry - family via Charles Alfred Eden.  Have to bear in mind that these trees often contain many inaccuracies.

Instead of selecting 'reply' click the 'quote' box at the top right of the post you want to quote from.  You can delete any of the message within the box by highlighting and selecting delete but make sure you don't delete the brackets at either end.  This will (should) then come up in a blue quote box when you 'send' it

To add your own message type after the last bracket  ;)
