Frank William Fairey 1888

Frank William Fairey was born in Cambridge March Q 1888 and married Hilda Maggs there in June Q 1914.  This much I know.  The rest is supposition, so I would be grateful if someone out there is able to confirm or correct. 

His father could have been William Fairey born Bedford March Q 1860, married possibly to Mary Ann Currell in Sept Q 1885 in Hitchin, but in some records there is also a William Henry born 1860 in Cambridge.  Census records show a William born 1860 in Bedford resident in Cambridge in 1891 and 1901 (Tramways Manager) and in 1911 a William Henry born 1860 living in Chesterton, Cambs.  I don't have full access to these records, and I can't find William (and Mary Ann) in 1881.

If anyone is able to clear up my confusion and take me further back in Frank William's history, I would be most grateful.

A Happy New Year to All and thanks so much for this information, which proves my assumptions about F W's parentage to be wrong!   and yes, he did marry Hilda Jaggs (my typo earlier). 

I can't find James in 1881, unless he's James Farrey, bachelor aged 37, living with widowed mother Eliza, both born Eaton Socon.  Can I ask more of you helpful folk and see if he can be found in the 1871 and before with father William?

I'm still baffled by this William I mentioned earlier born 1860 in Bedford, but resident in Chesterton, Cambs., as were James & co in 1891.  Since James was born c 1846 and Frank William in 1888, he could be a younger brother of James (or, of course, no relation at all  ).

I think James is a bit older than he claims at his marriage, and later on.   There is only one James Fairey (or variant) birth registered in St Neots district between 1837 and 1850, and this is in June Q 1839.

shows a James FAIRY s/o William and Eliza, baptised 9 June 1839

I think this couple are William FAREY and Eliza BALDOCK who married at Eaton S. in 1829.

A William Fairey aged 29 was buried Eaton S on 29 January 1841

Thank you very much again.  It's interesting to see another William, son of William & Eliza and born in London, not Eaton Socon, like the others.  His birth would be about 1835 and now I'm wondering if the William I mentioned in my first message could have been his son.

There are many variations in the spelling of the Fairey surname - Fairy, Farey, Feary, Farrey, Ferry,  etc., but my line seem to have settled on the Fairey variant by the mid 1800s.
