Marriage of Eliza EDWARDS/George SMITH, Bath area COMPLETED

Hi there,
I am having trouble finding a marriage record for Eliza Edwards and George Smith. I estimate that they were probably married about 1888, in the Bath area. By 1891 they were living in Walcot, in the parish of St Pauls. George was born about 1869, Eliza was born about 1868 according to census records, but I have sneaking suspicion she was older, perhaps born in 1863! Both seem to have been born in Bath according to the Census, but I can't find definitive birth records for either of them. George's occupation was likely a cab driver, cab man or groom.

Thanks for the marriage info! I will be ordering a copy of that, as it seems to be an excellent match.

In terms of the birth info, I was looking at both those indexes earlier today, and thinking Clutton was a likely candidate. All I have on Eliza right now is census records (after her marriage), so I don't really have enough info to determine if either or neither is a match. I tried looking for census records before her marriage and no good matches came up, except an 1871 census which looked promising (born in Bath, resident in Walcot) but born in 1863. Since there were no other really good possibles for the 1861 or 1871, I decided that I would try and get marriage info first (for her father's name). I agree Clutton is a good possibility though.

Did you find them in 1901 census - living in Barry with three children??

births years for George 1869 and Eliza 1868

Rose b 1889, Kate  b 1891, and Stanley b 1900.

Yes, too many George Smiths to narrow it down so far. I do have them in the later census in Barry, their son Stanley is my great-grandfather Those pesky Smith families are tough to narrow down heh.
