Stuck on a McRae/ Macrae
« on: Tuesday 10 January 12 17:48 GMT (UK) »
I am really stuck on one of my McRae/ Macrae line. I am trying to trace Mary Macrae before she married William Wink in Elgin.
Mary Macrae married William Wink (please no comments) on 26 May 1865 in Elgin . her parents were shown on the marriage cert as Duncan Macrae Farmer deceased and Christina Macrae ( nee Mackay). Her age on the marriage cert in 1865 says age 30.All the census return from 1861 show her born in Kintail and family word of mouth all report that the family comes from Dornie/ Port Bundalloch on the mainland across from Skye. She actually returned to Port Bundalloch and died there on 7/11/1897,  age shown as 60 on death cert.
I can only presume Mary Macrae was born sometime between 1835 -1837

I am trying to trace who her parents were and any evidence of Marys birth, there is a Duncan Macrae and Christina Macrae shown in Dornie in 1841 but i can find no record of Marys birth to them.

Everybody in Dornie / Bundalloch appears to be a Macrae

Any help would be really appreciated.
