Are you sure the name is Welsby?    I'm certain I know a similar name, but can't quite recollect it.

Hi Humfrey,

The marriage of Thomas Humphrey WELSBY and Winifred Tysilio Castle THOMAS took place in 1917 at SS Mary & Helen's church at Neston (www.cheshirebmd.org.uk)

I can't see a birth registration for Thomas Humphrey WELSBY in 1890 - do you know where he was born?  A copy of the marriage certificate would give you Thomas's father's name and occupation if you don't already have it.

Hello again,

There is a will for a Henry WELSBY in 1842 from Chester, Wine and Spirit merchant if you are sure that this is your family.  You can search and order a copy online from Cheshire Records Office using this link:

http://archivedatabases.cheshire.gov.uk/RecordOfficeWillEPayments/search.aspx

There is also a much later will for Walter WELSBY, wine merchant (1923) who was married to Annie Kate WELSBY - they seem to use the middle name Humfrey, is this your family?

Jean, I  think Thomas HUmfrey may have been born in1895, he joined the royal navy,he may have lied about his age.
