The quick response earns a quick one from me, as I started to list the details as soon as I posted my message and have had today free to work on it.  As a result, I can give you the following which may or may not be helpful.  It is a lengthy list, but might give some clues.  I can certainly help with a few of the details from James senior onwards, but not from the birthday book - just based on memory and a bit of amateur-ish research.  Genealogy was not considered important before most of the people who could have helped had died!  I have left the data in a form that can readily be put into a table for ease of sorting.  The following list shows names as shown, relationship to James junior and birth date and year if shown.  Be warned, they may not be 100% reliable, as I have found with some other entries in old family records.  I have also added a few notes that may help.

thank you sooo much. I recognize so many names from the family tree. A lot of work to do but I really love it!
I'm a descendant of James' brother Robert who was 2 years younger then James ( Robert born 1840).

Now I can place some dates with the many names I have.

I have just got back to doing a bit of work on the Wilson family and think I may have unravelled the mystery of Rebecca Barrett's death - it was much later than I thought.  There is a death recorded in the Willesden district in Jan/Feb/Mar 1930 of a Rebecca Wilson age 93.  That ties in with her birth year and the place is consistent with where a number of her children were living at the time.  It just seems strange that I never remember my mother, Rebecca's grand-daughter, ever talking about her.

Following on from finding Rhoda Wlson living to be 97 there is a clear suggestion that either the water or the beer in Writtle must have been good in the early 1800's!

looking at a number of older posts and replies I was wondering how do you know that a number of her children were living in the area of Willesden in 1930 ?
Is Willesden near Paddington ?
