WHITEHEAD of Haddenham
« on: Thursday 12 May 05 08:24 BST (UK) »
Hello, a recent discovery has led me to the Whitehead family of Haddenham... or should that be "families"?

My NEWMAN and MODEN ancestral families have both uncovered ancestral Whiteheads.

William Moden married Esther Whitehead (b.1783 d.1815) at Haddenham in the early 1800s (ive got the date somewhere) and Philip Newman married Elizabeth Whitehead married there a few years earlier and had at least one daughter - Rebecca Newman b.c.1804.

As yet, i have no information on the Whitehead family, so ANY information is more than welcome.

thanks,
Andrew Martin

I've just been to the records office today and un-earthed a load of Whiteheads from Haddenham registers but i'm not really much further with my Elizabeth Whitehead, probably down to the sheer popularity of that name during a likely period of time for Rebecca's parent to have been born.

I've managed to put together the following family groups but these are all linked up (im sure) but i cannot see the link from the research ive carried out today. The file is a .pdf.

I don't know if this will help or be of any interest but I've just started digging further back into the maternal side of my family (mainly on the Bowyer's side) stemming from Haddenham and Reach and my great, great grandmother was Elizabeth Whitehead. She married my great, great grandfather Henry Bowyer.

I haven't got as far back as you yet but have some names/dates in the 18th and 19th Centuries as below:

 Elizabeth Whitehead born c. 1854, died 11th October 1931

=> Elizabeth was the daughter of Edward Whitehead born 23rd April 1825 and Ann Hunt born 1828 died 15th January 1889

=> Edward was the son of Edward Whitehead born 8th December 1801 and Sarah Wilkins born April 18th 1802 in Horningsea, Cambridgeshire, died 14th November 1870 in Waterbeach

=> Edward was the son of Edward Whitehead born 3rd May 1776 in Waterbeach, died 5th September 1838, Waterbeach – his wife was Alice Stanford born Leeds 1774 died 22nd June 1810, Bottisham

=> Edward was the son of James Whitehead born about 1738 in Waterbeach; died 17th February 1799, Waterbeach; his wife was Susannah Mason born 1740; died 24th  March 1795.

Maybe we are, distantly related?! If I find anymore linked to your line/enquiry I'll let you know; likewise if you do come across anything tied to my Whitehead/Bowyer side I'd be grateful to hear.

Cheers

David
