William Henry BROWN
« on: Tuesday 17 January 12 20:27 GMT (UK) »
Hi

William was born c1800 Fordham Cambridgeshire, arrived Tasmania as a convict onboard
the Barossa 1844, returned home  ( son Henry William Brown born 1849).
I have his trial records. I need any information on his time in Tasmania and how do I find him leaving Tasmania to return Home?

Muss

Hi

Perhaps he was still in VDL ...  I have seen very very long gaps between when the presumed father was sent overseas and when a baby was born to the wife ... not just the standard nine months ... some military wives could have four or more years between husband departing and birth of a child ...

Cheers JM

Hi Muss

Was his family wealthy?  Otherwise it would have been extremely difficult for him to have made it back to the UK.  It was very rare for that to happen and if he had been transported for ten or fifteen years, as the records seem to show, then he would have been incredibly lucky to have been pardoned by 1849.

I think you might find that William remained in Australia.  It was not uncommon for either those transported or those left behind to form new attachments, as each was aware the chances of ever seeing each other again was almost impossible.

Cheers

This is confusing.

If you are interested in William Henry Brown who received a conditional pardon in 1852,

he could not have fathered a child in England in 1849?

His name is William Brown, not William Henry Brown.

I can see that you have two enquiries about William Henry Brown, and a total of four men with this name -

William Henry Brown, convict Tasmania ( who does not have Henry in his name).

William Henry Brown b. 1849 England.

William Henry Brown m. 1894 Newcastle NSW

William Henry Brown b. 1894 NSW

This is too confusing to handle accurately.

Can I suggest you first deal with the couple who marry in 1894.

I am assuming that you are looking for the origins of this William Henry Brown.

Can you give all the details on that marriage certificate please...everything.

Also re CAMS 1849

Apart from the civil bc have you sought out the parish record for baptism on offchance the clergy recorded a reputed father in a margin note in a discreet manner?

Re 1894 marriage in NSW I agree .. everything ..when and where born and parents details too and another question Do you also have his dcs and if so How long in NSW...
