Joseph Brett Mumford- 1833- 1902
« on: Wednesday 18 January 12 12:59 GMT (UK) »
Joseph was my 2xgreat grandfather.
He served in the 42nd Royal Highlanders in the Crimea and India.
He was Drill Sergeant and Parish Clerk in Romford Essex in the 1880's and 1890's. I have a desciption of his funeral from the news paper but as yet haven't found a photograph of him. Can anyone help?

No photo but British Army service records on FindMyPast have details of a Sergeant Joseph Mumford - his service , discharge and a description of him when he was discharged. If its the same one he was shot in the neck at Lucknow and lost the use of his left arm
Sorry if you already have this info

Hi,

Not sure if there is an actual image, but Joseph Brett Mumford appears in the book:-

British & Irish Painting in Public Collection by Christopher Wright:-

http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=9XNe0mLSJQAC&pg=PA188&lpg=PA188&dq=%22JOSEPH+BRETT+MUMFORD%22&source=bl&ots=-QDsDg-9eD&sig=4ERg67erSgMqWfcE-xzEy5MK6uk&hl=en&sa=X&ei=A3ccU9OxG8W8ygPWr4L4Bw&ved=0CFYQ6AEwCg#v=onepage&q=%22JOSEPH%20BRETT%20MUMFORD%22&f=false

Sorry do not know how to shorten this connection, if any problems go to Gooble Books
and search for the book title.
