Hotchin in Scunthorpe
« on: Friday 20 January 12 17:39 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to piece together the HOTCHIN family in Scunthorpe area.  I have knowledge of three sisters:
Bertha Emma (born Dec 1884) Glanford B 7a 712
Florence May (b Jun 1893)
Ethel Dorothy (b Sep 1891).
I am sure there were brothers and perhaps more sisters.
Bertha is my maternal grandmother.
How can I put together a family group?

One earlier child named in 1881 http://tinyurl.com/73e6uss  that makes 7 I think.

A later census says they had had 7 children of which 2 had died.
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

Thanks...

So John Thomas HOTCHIN and Maria (NORTON) had 7 children:
Fred, John Henry, Walter, Bertha Emma, Ethel, Florence, and Albert.
You mention 2 as having died: which ones?  I don't remember there being an Albert when I was young!

With John Thomas HOTCHIN born in 1856 in Leverton, are his parents named anywhere?

Regards...

Many thanks Geoff E.

I think perhaps that Albert died in the First World War.

I don't know if you are still interested in the Hotchins of Scunthorpe. I am a descendant of Henry Hotchin (John Thomas Hotchin's father), who was my great great grandfather. I also have a comprehensive family tree made by Arthur Hotchin in the 1940s and letters from your great aunt Florence (Wattam) concerning various members of the extended family, and from Bertha's daughter, Rowena. Please let me know if you are still researching this family.
