Here is what I know.
Edward Tebbutt Jr- b. 1807, in Castle Donington, Leicestershire
Mary Elizabeth Wallgate- b. 1809 possibly born in Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire
They married October 9, 1828 in the Parish Stepney St Dunstan
Their children are:
Mary- b. 1829
Edward Wall- b. 1830
Wallgate- b. 1832
Christopher- b. 1835
George- b. 1836
Frederick William- b. 1837
Elizabeth Ann- b. 1840
Edward Jr, and his two eldest boys (Edward and Wallgate) came to Canada (Goderich, Ontario) and settled some land. They returned to get the rest of the family with the intention of returning to Canada. Edward Jr however died of TB before returning (some say he died on board the ship but I have his death certificate and it states he died in Castle Donington on June 5, 1843).
His wife Mary continued on to Canada (in 1843) with all her children and one servant William Jervis. I have plenty of information on them after they arrive in Canada but very little of their life in England.
I have their marriage bann and I have them on an 1841 census on High Street in Castle Donington. That is it.
I know that Edward and his father (Edward Sr) were both surgeons in the Castle Donington area.
For unknown reasons Mary (after arriving in Canada) went by the name Mary Elizabeth Wallgate Weaver Thorpe.
What I am wondering:
I have searched tirelessly for ship documents for Edwards first trip to Canada(year unknown) OR his wife and childrens trip in 1843.
I know passenger lists for that time are scarce, but perhaps someone with greater knowledge can suggest something?
I would really like to see a photo of Edward's gravestone. I have searched a few of the more common gravestone sites with no luck. I don't even know WHERE he was buried. I assume in Castle Donington.
While doing research I came across a story about the murder of Elizabeth Tebbutt in Kegworth, Leicestershire, on December 10, 1802. The story talks about a brother William and a brother Edward who had recently began working as a surgeon in Castle Donington (3 miles from Kegworth). I have come across this story in both the London Times and a journal titled "The Legal Observer", here is a link to the latter.

The story titled "Remarkable Trial" beings on page 436.
I believe Elizabeth's brother Edward may be Edward Jr.'s father, but I have no information to confirm it.
A huge thank you to anyone who can give me any information about this family and their life in England.
