Thomas Theophilus Morris born abt 1816

Thomas stated he was born in Camarthenshire on 1851 census. He emigrated to Australia in 1854 with wife, Rachel née Thomas and family. He had married in Bristol in 1843.
From his records we know his father was Thomas but nothing more of his birth or where he was in 1841 for sure. He was an auctioneer in 1851.
Is it possible to find his birth/christening as he has distinctive name?

From his records we know his father was Thomas

What records are these please - do you have his 1843 marriage cert?  If so - is any occupation shown for his father

Thank you both for replies. I omitted to mention he was living in Newport in 1851.

His father's name ( not mother) is given on Australia Death index  as Thomas.
(Registered Victoria; no. 4212)

I will see if I can trace him in Newport in 1841 as I now know he was there in 1844.

I do not have marriage certificate - this is not my own family but the family of a friend who moved to Uk from NZ.

I have just found another researcher has 28 Jun 1815 Porthyahyd, Camarthen as birth (probably christening) to Thomas & Mary née Jones, but no source given. Can anyone confirm this please?

There is a submitted IGI entry with that info

It may be an idea to get in touch with the tree owner in case they have family documents supporting that info

This is likely to be Porthyrhyd, which is a village in the Parish of Llanddarog:

Thank you. Have just checked  the IGI records for Llanddarog with no success - no Morrises at all! I must be missing something.
