DOYLE in Leitrim
« on: Tuesday 24 January 12 14:07 GMT (UK) »
Looking for Michael Doyle, maybe born around 1908. Claimed Manorhamilton area birth, but no evidence. Well, he could have got into trouble? Worked on the railway at Dromod and probably Manorhamilton too. Came to Britain with the beet hoeing gangs and eventually settled in Hampshire. Ended his working life as a railwayman. My dad, but I know almost nothing of him. Any 'lost' members in your Doyles, please?

AAh! Many thanks for the response, but all that has already been done, with no result. It's desperation time now and messages in bottles.
I suspect that the answer lies in the talk around the fire about the old times.
Thanks again, your suggestion appreciated. Caomhin.

Hello and welcome to Rootschat  :)

was Michael married? If so, did he give a father's name on his marriage certificate?

I realise it must be difficult when you have searched everywhere and then by posting on here you get the same information, but have you considered this birth?

Michael Doyle

It is not close to Manorhamilton but it is close to Dromod. :-\

Thanks.
Would that be the 1912 Michael Doyle birth at  Laheen,Drumdoo you had in mind? Caomhin.

I have no idea - if that's the one I gave the link for  - I suppose it is.

Do you have Michael's father's name?

Hello caomhain,

I can see the John from Laheen now in 1911 - is he not the one you want?
Mohill seems to be the registration district looking at Mary Jane's birth.

Well you'd need more than Michael son of John to select right one from Census...mother's name...any siblings? Any clues??
