Beavan or Bevan family Clyro
« on: Wednesday 25 January 12 22:58 GMT (UK) »
Hello

Does any one have any Beavan or Bevan surnames in their family tree?

Thomas Be(a)van believed to be born in Clyro about 1801. He is my great great grandfather & his occupation was waggoner.

He married Eliza Williams in Monmouth 1833 and by the time of the 1841 census he was recorded as a Farmer of Redhill Farm Monmouth. There is also a William Beavan listed as a member of his household
in this  census possibly a nephew?

Thomas died in January 1855 and is buried in Wonastow Monmouth. I have quite a bit of info on his wife & descendants

I would really like to find out more if possible about his earlier life, parents, siblings etc

Any info, ideas or suggestions much appreciated

Thanks

Diane

Probably your best bet would be to take a look at the Clyro Parish Registers.
If you can`t get to the Record Office a researcher would do the look up for you.You can write and query the cost first.
Good luck!

sorry, I'd had a hunt around for Beavans. Certainly a few of them still in Clyro in 1841 & several wills at the NLW, but none that look to be linked to Thomas.

If you go to the UK 1851 Census and enter, "John Beavan" 53 Agricultural labourer, born Llowes, Radnorshire, wife Margaretta (?) age 49 born Kent, NK, it might help as I have seen a number of queries trying to identify the "Margaret" i the Bevan/Beavan family trees.  Aloha!

Thanks for that Paparico.

It's impossible to know if this one is related to 'my' Thomas or not. It's unclear who his parents were & also where he came from.

Clyro came from the 1841 census .... a guess as the handwriting is very hard to decipher
