Peden line, help please.
« on: Saturday 28 January 12 17:09 GMT (UK) »
Is it possible to search for records going back to 1600's.
I, unfortunately, took the hints given on Ancestry and followed this line through to Bonnie Prince Charles.  Going back to check today I noticed a discrepancy in the dates so now I've taken all those people off my tree.
This is what I have got so far:-
Adam Peden b 1821 Prestonpans m Jemima Coull
James Peden, b 1790     " m Janet Whitecross (have this birth, marriage & death)
James Peden  m Isabel Blackie

Should I now just leave this as it is or will I get any further.
Many thanks
Carol

Hi Carol

Just wanted to link to your query another post here on RC today which asks the same sort of question www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,578371.0.html

As you can imagine, it is a subject that does come up often.

A/try hints can be useful sometimes, however, personally, I would treat them with caution...but then I treat everything with caution unless I have documented everything myself. If not, it is only very light pencil draft  ::)

I am now thinking that I should visit Scotland to search for some records, it must be possible to find out more but where do I go?  Advice gratefully received.

Hi Carol,

I have these names in my family tree, but haven't as yet gone any further back, but will happily share any information if I can help. My mother was a Peden

Hello Freda, nice to hear from you.  Which person on the Peden line are you related to?  Would love to share any information that you have and I haven't.  I have just finished mowing the grass back & front and am exhausted that's why my english grammer is bad, that is my excuse anyway.
Regards
Carol

Hi Freda, going by my tree your great grandparent was either Isabella, Janet or Ann as Adam was my husbands great great grandfather or have I got it wrong and you are a closer relative than that.
