ss Vedic - 1928
« on: Monday 30 January 12 01:16 GMT (UK) »
I am looking to find the date James Dargavel Copland and his family left Scotland to come to Austrlaia on the s.s. Vedic. I believe it was 1928. What Port did they leave from and where did they land.  Was it assisted passage - if so what was the cost per family/person

The only indexes for that time period are for ships which came through WA, and the Verdic doesn't appear to have come through there in 1928.

If you go to http://www.ancestorsonboard.com/ you will find a COPLAND family ticketed to Sydney in 1928 - James, Florence, William, James and Margaret.  If this is them you can purchase credits and view the digitised manifest.

Once you know the date, the newspapers are usually worth a read.  It looks like the ship made several trips that year.
