Blaney 1841 1851 and 1861 census look up
« on: Friday 13 May 05 14:04 BST (UK) »
I am looking for Thomas Blaney a tailor and his wife Harriet.

Known Children were Harriet and Catherine Blaney. They also had a son name unknown. Harriet married May 27 1844 to Shadrach Raven at the parish of Christ Church by Rec. Wm Stone in the Spitalfields area.

Can these folks be found?
Other spellings Blayney and Blarney.

Thanks

How old would Thomas be?

Found a Thomas aged 89 and Matilda aged 76 in 1851 Bethnal green HO 107/1540 folio 673
Blayney Thomas 53 with wife Mary 47 and a few children.  There is a mix up in the indexes as they are down twice.  HO 107/1541 folios 277/278

He could have married again

Someone will look at the actual census for you.  If they don't after a week then ask again quoting the reference numbers.  That is if you think they are connected

Thank you,

The 53 year old Thomas would of been 27 years old when Harriet was born in 1825 at London. The other Thomas would of been 63 years old.

I think the 53 year old one is a better one to check out first.

Thanks again

1851 - HO107 1541 page 536.
The first entry on f277 has been crossed out and has been redone on the next page (assume because the family did not fit on the one page?)
Bedford Row, Bethnal Green (no house no. shown)
Thomas Blaney, head, mar, 53, weaver, ALL BORN IN  Bethnal Green
Mary, wife, 47, Shoe Binder
James, son, 17 paper hanger
John, son 16, errand boy
Edward, son, 12, scholar
Joseph, son, 11. scholar
Alfred, son, 7 scholar.
Please note that it is not a clear copy and some of the ages of the children may not be correct though think I have read them right.

As for the other reference, 1540 f673
This is the 'Lunatic' asylum in Bethnal Green
There is a Thomas Blaney, mar. age uncertain a weaver born Bethnal Green,
Margaret, mar. 76, weaverefs, born Bethnal Green
I cannot find a Matilda - so would assume mistranscribed? - went through all of the "B".

Thanks Cougar,
My Harriet's marriage certificate stated her father was Thomas Blaney a Tailor. She married on May 27th 1844 at the Parish of Christ Church  in the County of Middlesex by William Stone. She married Shadrach Raven a Tailor. They lived at No. 27 Whiler Street. Her death certificate said she was born in London. All their children were born in London and they all came to the US in 1854.

I will keep this info you found in my files.

I have Harriet Blayney b.22Oct1824 d.9Jan1897 marrying Shradrach Raven (Tailor) on 27May1844 (Christ Church), so the Sylviaann and Cougar approaches are incorrect. You can get the whole genealogy at http://www.keithblayney.com/Blayney/ThomasNZ.html where Harriet is listed as oldest child of Thomas Blayney (Blaney) b.1796
