getting thoughtful consultations
« on: Wednesday 01 February 12 03:31 GMT (UK) »
I have been working for a while on an individual who was born about 1783 in Leitrim, Ireland.  there is actually quite a bit of information about men of his name -- Robert Newcomen Algeo -- in the historical records.   In fact, there is so much information, including about 4 marriages, that I suspect that I have got more than one man.

But the point is this:  I've collected, documented, analyzed, to the limits of my current ability.  what I want, and am more than happy to pay for, is for someone who knows more about the source materials than i do, and who is used to thinking about genealogical puzzles, to look over what I've compiled, and tell me how they might analyze what I have collected.  I'm not interested in more data collection at this point -- although would be happy to listen to suggestions about sources that might be consulted that I haven't found so far.

So what I would like to find is a skilled family historian who would be willing to look at about an 8 page paper, which I believe to be reasonably coherent and straightforward, and give me an opinion about just what it might be safe to conclude, and where one might look further.   Does anyone have any suggestions about genealogists who might undertake this, or have you had any experience with someone doing this kind of consultation with you?

I recognize that it might be more appropriate to send me a private message with names of individuals.

Thanks --
Santa Traugott

Very much following this post as I'm trying to figure out which branch of the Algeo family I'm from - and whether the document I viewed a couple of years back was right about the Tullyskeherny connection :)

Welcome to RootsChat  :)

You're probably aware that there are two Tullyskeherny townlands in County Leitrim.

There are Algeos living in Tullyskeherny (near Manorhamilton) in 1901 census.

For others, here's the marriage of the above couple-
Adam ALGEO to Catherine STEPHENSON on 13th January 1887 in Cloonclare Parish Church.

Manda has begun her own topic about the Algeo family on the Leitrim board. Probably best to post any more replies specific to Manda's enquiry on that thread.

Embarrassingly I didn't heheh - I only knew about the one near Cloonclare (slight google maps fail on my part).

I'm now rather curious about the Tullyskeherny to the north of Manor - unfortunately I no longer have access to emigration document I viewed a couple of years back, due to a falling out with the relative who own said document.  I'm don't recall it specifying *which* Tullyskeherny my decendant is from, if at all.
