Sorry, Rosie99. You are correct. I took it from the marriage notice in Manchester newspaper. Thanks.

Mary Phillips 1817-1882 born Llangollen married Robert Winstanley, son of the renowned Liverpool & Manchester Auctioneer, Thomas Winstanley, in Manchester, 1835.

This marriage appears to have taken place in Pontfadog, Llangollen 26 Feb 1835 - both parties resident Llangollen.
Newspaper report confirms that Robert was 'of Manchester' and Mary's father was Joseph Phillips of Hand Hotel.

Just to say that it would have been Llangollen rather than Pontfadog. FindMyPast has misindexed quite a lot of the Llangollen records as Pontfadog. Pontfadog didn't become a separate parish until April 1848:

Very annoying of them - quite a few of my ancestors' records were among them.

They've done it to quite a few of the parishes - Brymbo instead of Wrexham is another one.

Amey Phillips (Richards) was christened 19th March 1788, St Phillips (Ironically), Birmingham, daughter of William & Susanna. Her sister, Jane, also christened at St Phillips, 21st Dec 1786. They always lie about their age in census. She had 4 other siblings, Rebecca, 1784, Sarah, 1789, William, 1794 & Susanna, 1797.
Another revelation is that their mother was Susanna PHILLIPS. They were married in St Martins, Birmingham, 18th April, 1783

They always lie about their age in census.

People often did not know how old they were (or where they were born), there was not the readily available documentation that there is now.
