« on: Tuesday 07 February 12 01:16 GMT (UK) »
 ??? :)

Hi;

Could anyone possibly look at a death notice for me and hopefully
with the info I will know if I have finally found a long lost cousin
and his family,,,names as follows,,, :-\

William Wilson (b) 1922 Glas/Scot;(f)William(m)Mildred Hutchison
Blane Wilson; family immigrated to Au 1927 settled in Melbourne
area beside  an older brother Andrew Wilson. Two kids also came
both born Scot. Wm Jr & Geanne, younger sis Mildred Jr (b)1931
Melbourne, family lived on Newstead St,Maribyrong,sub of Moonee
Ponds. I have info and death/certificates for both parents and burial
of their cremated remains at 'Fawkner/Cem',,,, what I am seeking is
info on their children. ::)

I have now maybe found Wm Jr, last address in 1976 was 2 Picnic St
Frankston,Vic recent 'obit-notice' states Wm Wilson (d) 9 May/2002
after long illness at Frankston Hospital,funeral at Tobin/Bros,Parlor
Cranbourne Rd,Frankston on 13 May/2002; widow's name "Mary" ???
last address for Mary  13/293 Frankston/Cranbourne Rd,Langwarrin
there is a possibility she passed away between 2003/2009,, ???

I would appreciate very much if I could have a look-up of Wm & Mary
obit/notice's to confirm if it is my cousin,,thank you very much,,,

Kind regards;

I can't help with the lookup however there is a facility on the website to activate the notice for a small fee.

Maribyrnong is a suburb of Melbourne as is Moonee Ponds.  Perhaps you are looking at electoral divisions and sub divisions.

Australian Electoral Roll
Vic 1931, 1937, 1942
WILSON Mildred Hutcheson  Newstead Street, Maribyrnong  HD
WILSON William  Newstead, Maribyrnong  Bread Carter
1954
WILSON Mildred Hutcheson B, 62 Liston Avenue, Keon Park  Canteen worker
1958
WILSON Mildred Hutcheson  2 Hearle Avenue, Aspendale  Canteen attendant

I can't see an enrolment for Mildred after this date.

It appears Mildred and William separated as they don't appear on the rolls together post 1942. Did either of them marry again?   I haven't looked for Wm as there are simply too many William WILSON's.

What was Wm Jnr's occupation and did he have a second given name?

Cheers

HI Cando;
Thanks a bunch for your quick reply, I will see if I can get a look at the
obit-notice in the paper if they accept credit/card,,,,
Now to begin I do not know Wm Jr's middle name or if he had one it may
have been John after his granfather, I got the info on Wm Sr  that he did
pass away at the Heildberg/Vets/Hosp 15 June/1974,cremated remains
at Fawkner/Cem I do not have an actual address at time of his death, I did
send for and received his Au/Army/Serv/Record that gives his address as
1 Kelvin Grove,Newstead St,, he was discharged early as he did not give
his true age on enlistment,however he served until 1949 in a "Home/Front"
service with rank of Cpl,,,,,

I did get a look at the Elec/Rolls and saw them as you have listed but now I wonder about after 1942 as you say Wm & Mildred could be seperated,,,
I sent for Mildred's death/cert which says she died 6 May/1976 and her
address was 194/351 Barkly St,Brunswick,she was a Widow,,,,,
Son  William age 54yrs,Geanne age 52yrs, Mildred Jr age 45yrs,,,,,I do
know Mildred's remains are beside her spouse Wm in Fawkner/Cem

William Jr address in 1976 was 2 Picnic St,Frankston when I Google the
Frankston address for Mary  they are all in the same close area,and it
was Tobin/Bros/Fun/Direct who catered all this family's affairs,,,

So I will check this all out and post back to let ya know,,may take me
time as I live in Ontario,Canada,,,thanks again,,,

Kind regards

Janey; 8) ::)

I do not have an actual address at time of his death

The deceased's Usual Residence is noted in the first column of a death certificate.  You can purchase an image of a certificate for AUD$17.50 and immediately download from https://online.justice.vic.gov.au/bdm/index-search?action=purchaseImage
The death certificate would list when and where married and to whom.  They informant may have been one of his children whose address would be given....of course the information may have been given to the funeral director by the hospital.

Information on certificates in Victoria
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,373754.0.html

I trawled through the 1954 electoral rolls for Division Maribyrnong Sub Division Moonee Ponds looking for William WILSON and tried to locate the same Wm on later rolls....thankfully there are only a couple of William's without a second given name.  This is purely speculative however it may be worth getting his death cert to eliminate this Wm withan Elva Mabel at the same address.  The only Wm I could find in 1949 was a plumber and seems a dramatic career change from a bread carter, however......

1954
WILSON William  16 Chester Street, Moonee Ponds  Cold storage

1968, 1972
WILSON Elva Mabel  16 Chester Street, Moonee Ponds  HD
WILSON William  16 Chester Street, Moonee Ponds  Cold storage

If you search the electoral rolls using 'Elva Mabel'  no surname  and Maribyrnong, Moonee Ponds....Bingo

1931 to 1963
BALLENGER  Elva Mabel  16 Chester Street, Moonee Ponds  Dressmaker

Birth
BALLENGER Elva Mabel
Father Ernt Geo Wilsford   Mother Annie Mabel Maso GOURLAY
At Hotham 1906 Reg#11356

It would appear that this Wm was living with Elva Mabel in 1954.  Of course it may not be your Wm :-\ :-\

Elva is buried at Fawkner

Janey who was the informant on Mildred's death certificate?

 :) ;D ::)

WOW CANDO;,,,,,

You did it,,!!!! first of all when I got mother Mildred's death/cert
it gives informant as "SON WILLIAM WILSON" and address as
# 2 Picnic St,Frankston as of 1976 when his mother passed away,
and listing his '2' sister's Geanne & Mildred but no married names.

I wrote to William at this address in July/2010 but never received a
reply and mail was not returned undelivered,so I had hoped they may
still live in Frankston so when I read the 'obit' notice for the William
(Bill) Wilson passed away in 2002 at Frankston/Hosp spouse "Mary"
I took a chance it may be him,,,, ???

I see now you have found my cousin  ;D and wife is Alice Lorraine 8)
this is sooooo-cool,,,,I am thrilled I can now check out the death index
and maybe at last find a relative ::)
Have to say though I am a bit stunned  :o to read Wm Sr left Mildred
and off living with Elva Mabel ??? if indeed it is him ???,,,,when he and
Mildred married Sept/1920 Glas/Scot they were First Cousins,, ::) I have
a picture of them both taken with my Thomson Grt Granfather just after
they married,,Mildred(Millie) was my mother's first cousin,their mother's
were sister's,,William came off another branch of 'rellies' ::) it was quite
common in those days for cousins to marry,, ::)

Thanks a bunch again Cando,,I will get back to you with anything I find,,,

Kind regards;

Janey; :)

HI CANDO;

Just checked the Fawkner/Cem and I think you have found the right
one in Elva Mabel Wilson ::) looks to me like her remains are right
next to WmWilson,,they are both in 2nd Ave New Rosebeds,position
Wm #176 Elva Mabel # 176A,,position Bed D ,, ???

Mildred Wilson (d) 1976 and her remains are in 2nd Ave New Rosebeds
position Bed B; position # 36,,, ??? so looks to me like they divorced
and 'Millie' never remarried,,,, :(

This is something new to add to the family tree,,maybe that's why Millie
never kept in touch with the family,,my mother tried to find her before
we left Scot/1952,,,,

Will keep ya posted on any new info I find,,thanks again,,, ;D

Kind regards;

Janey; :)
