COMPLETED Potton transcript
« on: Thursday 09 February 12 19:01 GMT (UK) »
If someone is playing at home in the coming weekends and will be going anywhere near Bedford library, I'd be very grateful for a look up for the following burials:
9 Feb 1766 John Keeling
3 Sept 1787 Catherine Keeling
16 Aug 1796 John Keeling

I'm trying to unscramble the Johns - was Catherine widower, or wife of John? That should enable me to decide if her husband was the 1766 burial or the 1796.

Many thanks in advance

David, the icicle man

David, Staying at home this weekend as have had no further dialogue with LPP.

Anyway, Potton burials...

9 Feb 1766 John Keeling - woolcomber
3 Sept 1787 Catherine Keeling wife of John Keeling
16 Aug 1796 John Keeling no further info

Also found the marriage entry of 27 Jan 1761 - John Keeling, junior, bachelor to Katherine Levitt/Livett, spinster, by licence  - but there is no entry in the marriage licence transcript.
The junior bit,to me,implies that the John Keeling, senior, is still alive as he's the woolcomber buried 1766.
Assume he was the John Keeling who married Grace Ewins on 12 Jun 1737

regards John

Thanks very much John. I think you're right about the various Johns, although there are no baptisms of children of John and Grace that I can find. There's a John and Mary, woolstapler, who baptised children in St Neots 1833-39, who are probably connected. The later Keelings were non-conformist, so perhaps John and Grace were too.

Keep cool. You've probably got no option. May go back to the Celt later to watch the rugby

Thanks again

David
