I have 4 Mary Jane Tilleys in my database born between 1856-1877, all related to me.

I am in touch with several distant Tilley cousins via email and recently I did my DNA test and have found at least one other in Canada. There are also several DNA matches who look strongly like Tilleys but they aren't answering my messages (this is a common problem with DNA testing, many people who have the test aren't interested in genealogy!)

Hi. I didn’t realise there were so many Mary Janes. My one took some sorting out as she used Parkinson as her maiden name. I can’t find a Fathers name either.

Who did she marry and when? Didn't realise Tilley's not her maiden name.

Hi, sorry not been very clear. Mary Janes maiden name was Tilly. Her mother shows up as a Tilly. Some records show Mary Jane as Parkinson Tilly. The mother of a second cousin of mine knows that Mary Jane was Tilly, probably illegitimate and took the name Parkinson from the man her Mother later married

Mary Jane Parkinson TILLEY, daughter of Mary Tilley who was daughter of Walter Tilley and Ann Dickinson Hunter Born Hexham, baptised 1866.

All this was happening in Northumberland England so we shouldn't talk about it here in the Roxburghshire group.
