How do I find out who Michael Feehan's parents were??
« on: Saturday 18 February 12 09:44 GMT (UK) »
Hoping someone can point me in the right direction pls....i'm trying to find out who Michael Feehans parents were. He was born around 1840 and according to 1901 census he was born in Queens county. However at some point he moved to Dublin (Terenure) where he married Elizabeth Blayney and then Mary Byrne when Elizabeth died. There are some Feehans living in Queen county on 1901/1911 census but i dont know how they are related or if they are even related. Really hope someone can help.
Thanks

Do you have a marriage record for Michael ?

Depending on the date and type of record (i.e. civil or parish) it may mention his father's name...

all depends on the date and location of the marriage ..

can you post some 1901/1911 census details for your Feehans - i.e. locations, ages etc ..

The 1911 return is particularly useful as it includes number of years married

found a baptism of a son of Michael and his 1st wife :

Baptism of Josephus Feehan - 22 Oct 1875
  Parish : St. Joseph (RC)

The address is given as Roundtown Quarries - Roundtown is the old name for Terenure.

couple more children from the first marriage (all St. Joseph's RC)

Baptism of Elizabetha Feehan - 31 Jul 1870
Baptism of Joaness Feehan - 5 May 1872
Baptism of Michael Feehan - 11 Jun 1873

and a child of of 2nd marriage :

Baptism of Therea Anna Feehan - 3 Jul 1881

there could be other children between Michael and Theresa , but it gives a date range for the second marriage between 1873 and 1881 - so there should be a Civil marriage record on the BMD Index.
