Hi I have not been on this amazing website for about 6 years mainly due to hitting a big brick wall and the had a health condition but 100% now also two days ago found a new lead for the most elusive Lancashire woman. ever. She has lead me a merry dance for over twenty years.By changing her christian names around place of birth on Census returns sometimes ficticious. As of earlier this week I knew for 100% where she was on 1861 1871 1891 Census.
In July 1877 she was released from 0xford Castle Prison after being falsely accused of Wilful murder.Have masses of documents on her court case and 0xford Newspapers. From one of these papers her son said even if she was found "Innocent" he would give her money to leave 0xford - the family disowned her for bringing shame of the Assizes and being a respectable family were not happy.
NEVER EVER FOUND HER ON 1881 Census assumed she had died No Death No remarriage. However some years later found she was living back in MANCHESTER and had remarried she actually told the truth except for her age even giving that she was a widow and giving her deceased Husbands name.
BUT where was she from July 1877 to new Marriage in 1891.
I was clearing out lots of old emails the other night and came across one from Find My Past and they have new records for Manchester.
FOUND HER in Prison. Raced off to local Family History Centre ten minutes before they closed managed to check it to find it was her as her daughter's name is on the record.
There was a second possible one but did not have time to check and print that on off. Also possibly a 3rd.
I live in Berkshire and last time I came to Manchester it took be hours to get to The Library and did not have a lot of time when there.
Could anyone Please look to see if there are any Quarter Sessions Records available for her she was admitted to Belle Vue Prison on 18 September 1877 and released on the 24th September.
0r Police Court Notices for Quarter or Petty Sessions in local paper.
I know I still have not YET found her in 1881 and there is nearly a 15 years before I find her again.
But I now know how much she weighed her height hair and eye colouring - AMAZING
I only wish Manchester was nearer and I could do this myself which I what i am used to doing for Worcester and Exeter but Records 0ffice's there are central to railway stations and can do in under two hours and go when they have a late evening to spend more time there.
Her name is MARIAN LOUISA GRAINGER. But on Prison Register Marian L Granger" I" missing. 0n her Death she was registered as Mary. Some 0xford papers just Louisa.
I am just so excited at finding her after so long cannot believe it. She died just before the 1901 Census in The Chorlton on Medlock Workhouse. What I need is a time machine and go and track her down.
Thanks for being patient reading this and look forward to your comments.
