South Tawton / Sampford Courtenay
« on: Wednesday 22 February 12 20:47 GMT (UK) »
I am researching Stanbury, Parr, Fewings (multiple spellings - Fewins), Millman, Elliott family from this area. I have a copy of the South Tawton Marriage register 1813 - 1837 which lists many of these family marriages. I would like to compare and connect with anyone working on these families.
Thomas Fewings md Charity Millman 6 Jun 1815.
George Stanbury md Elizabeth Elliott 11 Mar 1837
Gregory Parr md Joanna Fewings  2 Mar 1834 (Sampford Courtenay)
William Fewings (son of Simon and Eleanor Snell) md Dinah Page 4 May 1834 (Sampford Courtenay)

Hi there, have you seen the trees on Ancestry with these couples in them?

Hi Flamming
Not entirely sure which couple you are referring to, I am not a subscriber to Ancestry

People build trees on Ancestry and most are public. You do need a sub to look at them in detail (14 day free trial is available but you have to remember to call them on day 13 so you don't get charged), although you can see a list of trees and the 'owners' just by signing up without a subscription (free or otherwise). There are 38 trees that include George Stanbury and Elizabeth Elliott.

There are also public trees on FamilySearch which is completely free. It has a tree for the above couple and the sources show member names who are researching them. Not sure if the following link will work for you - you may need to sign up first.

Thanks Flemming for your clarification .I was responding to the original query.I have subscribed in the past to both Ancestry and FindMyPast .As my current query is concerned ,it is thanks to a fellow rootschat member  I have new evidence that Robert Sampson and wife Mary of Allinsdon [a farm] had a son Robert  bpt South Tawton 10 May 1796. I am anxious to discover whether other siblings can be identified.
