McElney/McElnea
« on: Thursday 01 December 11 19:39 GMT (UK) »
Hi I have researched my McElney ancestors back to the 1700s, but there are several branches I have yet to discover. The Family originated from Co. Monaghan in Ireland.
My Great Grandparents are William McElney and Agnes Curry. 1820c They were farmers in co. monaghan and moved to Randlestown Co Antrim. They had a house called Magherabeg, and another family home was Sharvogues. Can anyone help me??

Welcome to Rootschat. Magherabeg is a townland in County Antrim and in the 1911 Census it comes under Sharvogues D.E.D.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thanks I visited this area recently on a visit to belfast and actually found the house, sadly it had been demolished just months before I got there.
