Ernest, Francis and Albert FEAR war records
« on: Sunday 26 February 12 18:09 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I  am looking for the war records of Ernest Fear born 1891, Francis born 1890 and Albert born ? . All born Weston super mare, parents were Edward and Bessie Fear, Living at Laura Buildings, Weston- super-mare.
I am told that the three brothers belonged to the same regiment in Somerset, as brother could claim brother.
Can anyone help?

regards Trish

Did any of them have middle christian names?

Have you checked freebmd or the 1911 census to confirm Albert's birthyear

Ancestry appears to have the service record of Francis -  Private 222 Royal Engineers - born Christ Church, Weston Super Mare.

If they were in the same regiment - the Royal Engineers - then there was an Ernest Fear 20921 Sapper later Acting Sergeant Royal Engineers, who entered France 16th September 1914 and so was almost certainly a regular or territorial - he was entitled to the 1914 Star, BWM and Victory Medal and was also awarded the Military Medal.

There are several medal cards for men named Albert Fear, but I can't see any who served in the RE.

Ernest served in Egypt and went on a secret mission to blow a bridge up in Yugoslavia. I have a copy of his war diary. He doesnt mention his rank or regiment. The family story says he was a batman, it sort of indicates that in the diary. As for Albert well I'm not sure, what he did during the war. Regards Trish
