F.L. Fassitt, an early male American lawn tennis player
« on: Thursday 01 March 12 15:58 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for some concrete information on F.L. Fassitt, an early male American lawn tennis player who seems to have played most of his tennis in Continental Europe, in particular in France and the United States.

The time period is around 1890-1905 (even then it's difficult to tell, so little is known about him). Contemporary sources always refer to him as "F.L. Fassitt", an ex-pat American, and never give a first name, nor do they say what part of the United States he was from.

I think this is such needle in a haystack-type stuff that it will be possible to find out anything concrete about this player, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a report of amendment of passport  (a little later than the date you want) for Francis L Fassitt, 45 Wall Street. New York City. Doesn't give an occupation. Passport was issued Washington, March 13 th 1920. Amendment seems to be by American Consular Service in Strassburg. France 2 September 1921 for the purpose of visiting  Switzerland.  ???

Francis Louis FASSITT, DOB 14 Mar 1859 New York, son of Louis FASSITT of Philadelphia (deceased by Jan 1917), applied for a series of US passports 1917-1923. His legal domicile and permanent residence were both given as Philadelphia, but he had left the US for France (Nice and Paris) in 1898. Later applications show he needed the passport for travel abroad in order to settle his mother's estate. He intended to return to reside in the US once his mother's estate was finally settled. He also wished to travel to Italy, Switzerland and England.

He had also attended school in Lausanne, Switzerland 1875-1879.
