Completed - Burials @ Kegworth 1939 + 1945
« on: Wednesday 07 March 12 14:59 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone,

I would like to find where two of my Uncles are buried. Does anyone know if the registers for Kegworth that are held either at Loughborough Library or the Register Office @ Leicester go as far as 1939 and 1945?

I know that they are not buried in Kegworth cemetery which opened in 1936, but they may be in the churchyard of St. Andrews.

Many thanks,

Sutcliffe/Hill - Todmorden/Walsden

Woolley/Potter, Gaze/Parkins - Kegworth/Normanton-on-Soar/Wheathampstead/Harpenden
Smith/Green - Offley/Flamstead

Hi Diddy,

Thanks very much for your kind offer  :-*

The chaps I am looking for were both resident @ Kegworth at the time of their deaths -

Harold Arthur Young (aka Arthur Harold), died 26th April, inquest 27th April 1939. Body known to be laid out at home @ Kegworth.

George Victor Young, died 10th May (@ Loughborough Hospital), inquest 12th May 1945.

I know there are no surviving headstones for them in the churchyard @ Kegworth, I've checked all those that remain, which isn't very many really, but it would be nice to know where they were laid to rest.

Thank you Diddy, kind regards B

Thanks, very much Diddy,

Its good to know at least where one of them is, I wonder if maybe George Victor was cremated @ Loughborough?

I'm going to be in Kegworth/Loughborough next week, unfortunately visiting the crem, but not for family history purposes.

I'll have to have a hunt around and see if i can find a plan of the churchyard, maybe at the Parish Council offices in Kegworth.

Thanks for your help once again, hope you are fully recovered and firing on all cylinders.
