When recorded in the 60s by a Wm Windrum there is a stone to George RICHISON (presumably Richardson) who died 17-5-180(8) aged (3)0yrs
Obviously it was difficult to read and thats how it was recorded. No mention of Helen Scott. I would try to find the death cert.
The BFHS have recently re-done Lilliesleaf but I dont know if they found or recorded any more info.
Hope this helps.

Hello Barbara,George and Hellen had a son James on the 12 Oct 1806 so I expect they were married around that date in Lilliesleaf.

Is there a place mentioned in the birth, ie a farm?

so how do you tie him up to Lilliesleaf as on the 41 he says born Fife?  And where did they go to after that, having trouble finding him on the census and trying to get some background.

I,m trying to find out who his parents were and when he died as his wife Sophia was my great great grandmother .If I go by the census age being 37 it makes his birth 1804.but the only James i found b 1804 his father was the Rev John Richardson the wrong person ,I guess I'm clutching at straws trying to find the right George with a son James born 1804 who married  in 1841.

They could have been non conformist and therefore not in the parish records?  I take it they emigrated? Is James not your direct descendent then, did Sophia marry again?  If you give me more details, John I can try and help.  George was a labourer in Lilliesleaf but there is no marriage nor any other children. There is a George and Margaret Scott in nearby Ancrum having children at the same time but unless we have any real connection to the Borders they don't look likely either.
