William WILSON, baptised-South Marston.
« on: Saturday 10 March 12 10:32 GMT (UK) »
That's it, the South Marston parish register has the baptism of William Wilson, parents Jesse and Martha Wilson, 8th of November 1829. Then, nothing, no death or marriage. Neither can I find any likely suspects in the census records.

in 1841 Census Jesse seems to be in Stanton Fitzwarren, Wiltshire with sons John and George. Jesse's wife Martha died in 1838 so maybe the surviving daughters were  farmed out to relatives.
Interesting that a couple of the other daughters who died young passed on in Stanton Fitzwarren as well.
Also you might want to check frequent misspelling of name WELSON.

South Marston and Stanton Fitzwarren villages are next door to each other and at that time would have been a lot closer, strange as that may sound but it is due to several factors, not least the obvious one that you can see on google earth. It is obvious from the records that people moved between the two villages regularly. I have gone through the 41and51 census for both villages, house by house and no luck, although I could have missed them, there is the possibility that if they where staying with another family they just got entered under that families surname. Only Ann of the girls survived and got married, likewise George,,, but for William, his baptism is in the parish register and I have found nothing else.

Hi,
1851 Census does shoe a Jesse Wilson with his daughter Elizabeth in Stanton Fitzwarren. He is listed as a "gardener". Although her age is listed as 26 there is no occupation listed for her. I think we have an "age" transcription error and it should be 16 and this would then agree with other trees (she also died in 1851).

Still looking for William ! Just a thought but have you checked the Criminal Register !!

Do you have details for George and his marriage to Mary, their children John and Jesse ? (just found your tree so I see you have them)

Richard

I think that almost all the trees on ancestry and elsewhere with any amount of detail concerning this family  are either mine or my sisters or copies of them. Sometimes not very good copies.
Depends who's tree you are looking at.
Elizabeth was 16 when she died in 1851.
John was 23 when he died in 1846.
Mary was 14 when she died in 1846.
Charlotte was 11months and died in 1826
Jesse was a gardener and that is noted on every entry that occurs for him in the parish register of South Marston, I can't remember if the same is true for Stanton Fitzwarren.

No luck finding him either.  I wonder if he died soon after birth but why no record of it  :-\

Unless......who is the "George" aged 12 on the 1841?  William should have been about 12.
Is there a seperate baptism for George or could they be (clutching at straws) one and the same?

I have been on curiousfox but not about William. The person asking about Jesse Wilson  on there is a descendant of Jesse son of George and brother of John.
Milliepede, There are seperate entries for both George and William in the South Marston parish register. George was baptized in 1827.
