I've been back and had a look at the Aquila file(s). Basically it's a synopsis of what is held within the Archive. There is very little relating to the period 1840 to 1850 although I have had a look at the Church minute book. The handwriting is very difficult to read and the condition is generally poor.
First, the fact that it states SC was there from 1840 to 1850 is probably a summary as his name is with two other people. This implies he was only there for part of the time.
In the minute book SC is "signing" the minutes. However, I'm a bit dubious as to whether this is his signature as the handwriting is very similar to the Secretary's handwriting and signature! SC is certainly signing minutes in 1845.
The Archive would be able to give you copies if you were to contact them.
I do have the name of a historian who has specialised in the Methodist Church but I believe that it is her records that have suddenly appeared.
