FamilySearch Irish BMD Index - I believe a copy of the same index is available on Ancestry.

here's a link to the search results - Bart* Shea deaths, 1887

just two Bart. Shea deaths in Ireland in 1887, both in Cahersiveen district - and the other is a child.

Bernie

You may not have found him as you have Batt down as born 1836 whereas Shane's find says he was born about 1813.

I know you were looking for his son Michael's death too, so maybe you need to alter his approx year of birth too.

Thank you Shane
This has to be his death, I think the other could be Batt's grandson.
Tara, many thanks for pointing out the difference in ages.
I have found a death for a Michael B O'Shea Mar 1907
est birth year 1845 age at death 62
Killarney vol 5 pg 206.
I'm wondering if this is him
His 1st child Bartholomew Patrick was born 1884, which means Michael was 39 when he was born....Hmmm.
wondering if this was a 2nd marriage now.
This gets more and more puzzling  :-[

Hi Bernie,

39 was not too old for Michael B to have been having his first child. With most of my Irish 'country' marriages the men were 'in general' in their 30's as opposed to Dublin where the age seems to have been more in their 20's.

I'm afraid, that if you really want to know when Michael B died, you are going to have to start investing in some certs. That one that you have mentioned looks like a good starting point.

I have my Grandad's birth and baptism cert
He was their youngest child born 1893
On the birth cert his place of birth just says Caherciveen,
fathers occupation is shopkeeper.
I had a reply by email from the local parish church, they informed me they have
no records for Michael B O'Shea
