Brilliant Annette

The Suffolk Burial Index lists quite a few GENT burials from 1732 on at St Mary's, Bury St Edmunds.

With that info perhaps someone can check the PRs for that parish for a bpt for a Marianne GENT.

Keziah

ps.  The free search engine on FindMyPast lists 2 marriages of a John GENT in 1788 Bury ST Edmunds.  Diddy found a John GENT buried 1831 Oulton.
1861 John GENT c1802 born Bury St Eds living Lowestoft with wife Maria
- Suffolk marriage index John GENT married Maria Claydon 21 Sep 1823 Bury St Edmunds, St James.
1881 There is an Elizabeth GENT c1804 unmarried, born Bury St Edmunds, living in the Gt Yarmouth Workhouse.

And it gets even more interesting.
I would love to contact the person who has the same great grandfather. I have lots of things about them although not as far back as 1733.
I have his fishing career and all the boats he served on and owned. A lovelely photo of the family as well. Perhaps your friend is someone I already know.
What defeats me is how you make contact using this site.

Hope you now find Marianne's family looks almost certain they came from Bury St Eds.

Hi, I'm a new member....re jackstaff post....in researching my family history (my fathers mothers side) I have found that Laura Beatrice Hickleton is my great grandmother, she married William G Fletcher, fisherman in Lowestoft, in 1889. Her father was George Gent Hickleton b1828 and married in 1849 to Eleanor Flatman.

William and Laura's daughter Florence married JJP Cooper (my grandfather) in 1914. Their first child was Jack William Cooper, my dad.

I would be most grateful for any further info.
