okay that record collection name is misleading by ancestry it implies its after WWI but it is signed by Frank 23/1/1909 prior to hi departure to NZ,
so this more likely then confirms the Feb 1909 voyage under F Ayres and
maybeeeeeeeeeee then fits with a labourer that was later on NZ electoral roll

As a member of ancestry have you searched the later NZ Erolls?
bye

The only one I can find is a Frank Ayres living with a widowed Lily Ayres who I assume must be his mother so that would rule him out. This is in 1919 in Palmerston.
I'll keep looking.

Hi Andy,

Have you considered the possibility that he moved on to Australia. Then, as now, there was a frequent flow back and forth across the ditch.

Hello...

Do you have the names of his parents.

And, out of interest, is his birth the one listed on FreeBMD as being in 1882 in  Wolverhampton (which is quite a way from Charlbury)

Regards
Beg

Yes his parents were William and Emily Ayres and he was born in Charlbury.
I know quite a bit about him up until he applied to go to NZ. The query is did he go to NZ and if so what happened to him  when he arrived.

Cheers, Andy.

From the electoral rolls you could conclude he didn't stay
as Andy found, only one name match

Best to try Australia..or back in UK
Have you accessed the rest of his UK war record

Bye

Just to say thanks to all who replied to this post. I haven't found out what happened to him yet but still looking.
