Church records
« on: Friday 23 March 12 23:12 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Does anyone know if I can find a Catholic church record for the marriage of my great grandparents.  It is to find out their parents names, though I know the name of the bride was Patrick.  I have an ancestry account but have hit a wall...I am still an apprentice at this.

The marriage was in Liverpool, Lancs between Richard Walsh and Margaret Lyons in Jul/Aug/Sep period of 1882.  I have found the record, but was hoping to avoid buying YET another certificate.  My family are mainly from Dublin but a lot moved to and from Liverpool, so it's difficult to keep track of them.

Would really appreciate any help..thanks in advance

Marg

Hi

The marriage is on Ancestry in Liverpool, Lancashire, England, Catholic Marriages, 1754-1921
Ricardum Walsh of 22 Beacon St (parents Jacob & Catherinae) married Margaritam Lyons of 86 N Hedley St (parents Patritii & Catharinae)   10th Aug 1882 at St Albans Church

Catholic Parish Registers are usually in Latin so I find it easier to just use surnames

Hi

I forgot to mention the witnesses Domenico Fagan (i think) and Johanna (Jane) Kinsella. both of Liverpool

I had a quick look for baptisms but could only spot one

Catharina Francisca Walsh, of 19 Shadwell St, born15 Feb 1883 baptised 25 Feb 1883 at St Albanīs Church, father, Ricardi Walsh, mother, Margaritae Lyons I think these are godparents. Patriicius? F Cullen and Francisca Green

I wonder if there is a cheat sheet anywhere listing Latin names and their English equivalent. It would certainly be useful for searching Catholic events.
