« on: Saturday 24 March 12 04:10 GMT (UK) »
My great nana was Lizzie Fitzsimmons ,she was born in Dublin in 1881 and died in 1916 so im told in Dublin .
She married a Harry Gilbert in 1885 and ended up moving back and forth from ireland to York england over the years .
I would love to know if I have realtives on the fitzsimmons side .I have lots of info on my great grandad Gilbert but nothing on lizzie,s side of the family .

Thanks

Hi Michael

Have you come across this other Rootschatter researching same family?
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,543256.0.html

Seems things are no so straightforward with them...at least not in that post!
Apparently "Harry" was also known as "Ernest"?

Have you got their marriage certificate? (circa 1897 perhaps, not 1885?!)
Have you got the birth cert of son Ernest circa 1898 - was his mother actually Lizzie?  I see a big age gap between Ernest & the next sibling.
Have you found them in 1901?

For our Ref: 1911 Irish Census:
3 Pembroke Lane (Mansion House, Dublin)
Gilbert Harry, 36, Head, Church of England, b England, Chauffeur
Gilbert Lizzie, 30, Wife, Church of England, b Co Dublin
Gilbert Ernest, 13, Son, Church of England, b England, Scholar
Gilbert Harry, 6, Son, Church of England, b England, Scholar
Gilbert Lily, 4, Daughter, Church of England b England
Gilbert Laura, Daughter, Church of England,b City Dublin
They stated themselves as married 15 years.

Cheers

Thats them ,I have found nothing on the 1901  they were in york I think as my grandad harry was born in 1903 as was ernest in 1898.
Its so frustrating .There is no marriage cert that can be found  .
We do have ernests birth cert and it has his mother as Lizzie Fitzsimmons .I just need one little link and I can focus on the fitzsimmons side !

Hi Michael

Searching hard in 1901 - England or Ireland  :'( agree they're well hidden!

TWO BAPTISMS: 18 Oct 1903, Harrogate St Mark, Ripon, Yorkshire
Annie GILBERT, b 14 May 1898
Ernest GILBERT, b 9 Dec 1897*
Parents: Lizzie & Harry GILBERT, Labourer, of 12 Cornwall Road, Oatlands

Note: Ernest's dob as stated on baptism is out by a year I think  :) should be 1896? Registered in York Jan Qtr 1897 (FreeBMD)

Was this Oatlands the same address (in Harrogate) as for Harry jnrs birth? What part of the year was he born?

And Annie - did she sadly die in 1903 also - what was the date & address on her death cert?

And son Ernest's birth in Yorkshire - what was his address on birth cert?

Cheers

And further for the address's of the above events: so  we don't go over old ground....which of those address' have you already been able to check in 1901 Census to see who's living there? (and it may not be Harry & Lizzie, but family members)

From aghadowey’s search on linked site
These are the references for the youngest daughters
Laura GILBERT Oct./Dec.1910 Dublin South volume 2 page 688
Emily GILBERT Oct./Dec.1913 Dublin South volume 2 page 662
Irene Frances GILBERT Apr./June 1916 Dublin South, volume 2 page 682

Unfortunately I cannot find anything further on Lizzie's death around 1916 or later

Ernest's birth seems to be Jan-Mar 1897 V9D P3 as shown on other forum topic
If this is correct I would agree with ambly to look at the 1901 census for this area
Kearney & Bourke/ Johns & Fox/ Mannion & Finan/ Donohoe & Curley
