Hi Anna,

There is no mention  in the book of the source of the information.  However I have referred the matter to the Ware Museum in the hope that the original document is with them and will let you know the outcome in due course.

Hi Anna,

At long last I have tracked down the actual letter  dated 2nd January 1830 from Thomas Josolyne to his intended, Miss Simms of Mardocks Farm, near Wareside.  It is in the Hertfordshire County Record Office and I viewed it today. 

Look out for a PM.
