Ennis - George and Amelia
« on: Sunday 01 April 12 02:37 BST (UK) »
I am looking for the parents of George P Ennis. George was born in St Helier, Jersey about 1848-50.  He married Elizabeth Churchill and their children were George and Alfred Ennis (born 1880).  This is my first time on the Forum so thank you.

Lots of Ennises in my tree but, alas, none from the Channel Islands.  Mine all went from County Down to the US.   But it is a noble surname and so I just wanted to say welcome to RootsChat and good luck with your search.

Thank you and surprisingly, you look like my grandmother.  I might catch up later when I do some more research.  Best Wishes.

Well, that's not me; it's my father and his sister, both of them were Ennises.

There is a baptism on www.jerseyheritagetrust.jeron.je for Alfred Edwin Ennis, birth 11/11/1880, parents are George Ennis and Amelia Churchill. George was a blacksmith and the godparents were Alfred and Annie Ennis.

There is also a baptism for a George Ennis, birth 28/2/1850, parents Peter Ennis, blacksmith, and Frances Goodfellow. Godparents were the Father and Ann Goodfellow.

There are lots of other Ennis' on the above site and the family of Peter are on the CI censuses from 1841 onwards, various transcriptions, Ennes, Annis etc

Thank you Jerseylily - I will do some searching on that site.  There was a George Ennis born 1848 and one born 1850 - Peter - so you  have probably confirmed for me that it is Peter.  It is all very exciting.  Best Wishes.
