Re replies #1, #7 & #8.......

The Dorothy J P mentioned there appears to have been born in Australia......

She was born in Jersey, Channel Islands in 1920's. She moved to England around the mid 1950s.

She emigrated to Australia in the late 1980s, and moved to New Zealand "later" with her daughter Christine, who died in 1999.

In 2016 I was contacted by my cousin, who said that his mother was still alive and living in Rangiora North Canterbury, I wrote to her and I got a reply.  I wrote to her again and never got a reply, but she had had a fall and was in hospital (her son told me).

I have not heard from her or her son since.  I have searched for a death notice, but it is possible she is in an old peoples home.

May I please assure our new RChatter, Nettle62, that it is entirely possible that her cousin's mum is alive, afterall Nettle62 assures us that Dorothy was born in 1920's.

I regularly speak on the phone with my aunt (the youngest sister of one of my parents) who was born in 1928, and also with her dad, who was born in 1911.

My aunt and her dad have arthritis and much prefer speaking on the phone over struggling with pen and paper and (in my aunt's words) ...'imposing on others to go to the post office to post my letters' ...

One of my inlaws is firmly established in an Aged Care facility (in NSW) and he too prefers phone over pen and paper .... and his phoneline is standard issue from that Aged Care, and is NOT listed under his surname in the white pages phone books .....

I do not have a working knowledge of NZ privacy regulations but I continue to be concerned that this thread may be naming and identifying a living person.

I note the original poster has not been online since 2016.

Thank you, yes it is entirely possible she is still alive.  It is frustrating that I lose contact with her after only just finding her.

I appreciate all the suggestions I've had here, I will try to make contact with my aunt and cousin again.

Hi Bankhall,

I think the investigation has helped, but it's now best to close this topic to protect the person's privacy since we can't confirm she might be deceased.
