Sorry I repeated something you had in your 'links', no not hard to click on a link, also not hard to give some idea of what is on that link either.  By the time I wait for a trove page to load and then try to find the relevant part on that page I could have found something else. We don't all have lightening fast internet speeds or unlimited downloads. LOL
I will but out and leave you to it.  :-X

Shows you didn't even bother to look at the links. All my Trove links say what they are about. The other two, are just NSW State records, which don't require a fast Internet connection to open.

Feel free to duplicate as you wish, it matters not to me. Also, I think that snide comments are best sent by PM, if you must send them at all, rather than posted within other's listings.

375/1858 Jacob Myers to Caroline J Dunlop at Sydney

The newspaper item-

http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/13011428?searchTerm="jacob myers"&searchLimits=l-category=Family+Notices

Shows her name to be Mrs. Caroline Jane Dunlop,

With this in mind there are births to be seen to her and JACOB MYER from the year of their marriage and I also saw deaths (of those whose surname was not changed by marriage) recorded also.

A lot of interesting info in here about my great great great grandfather, Jacob Myers. I have been researching and know that he was transported to Oz in 1826 for Highway Robbery.  The ship's manifest lists him as 16 years old, making his year of birth 1809 or 1810. We know he was pardoned around 1845 and subsequently owned a number of hotels in Sydney, the Blue Mountains, etc, shops, land - Yass, Gundagai, etc. He appears to have died in 1880, but many of the death notices, etc list him as in his 90th year, meaning he was born around 1790. This obviously conflicts with the age he was listed as when he was convicted and transported. Many people I have found accept he was born in 1790 and have then linked him with certain people as his parents. This does not appear correct.
The problem I have is that I have not been able to find his date of birth as birth records prior to 1825 in England were held in parish records, and I have no idea which parish to search. So my search has come to a dead halt.

I do have a theory that the Jacob Myers born in 1790  might have been his father - have no reason for this, other than it opens doors to further investigation!!

If anyone has anything to add that might clarify his actual birth date, or any other info of interest I would love to hear from you.

Hi Lozza14
What information is listed on the death certificate for the man in 1880?
Who was the informant?

I may be repeating information already given, but I think the following is a good indication of why I would be concerned about determining the chap of the Marquis of Huntley in 1826 and the chap who died in 1880 would be same person without first sourcing some NSW bdm certificates ... of course, I would aim for official transcriptions ... The clue I would be seeking is for a place of birth for the Jacob, father of Abraham Myers.

Sept 1826 Convict Indents/Ships Musters
Jacob MEYERS aged 17, born Amsterdam, Religion: Jew, House servant, single,  Tried at London, 19 May 1825 for Pick Pocketing, previous convictions.  Sentence Life.  Arrived per Marquis of Huntley, 13 Sept 1826 to Sydney.  Assigned to John HASSALL, Matavia.

1828 NSW census
Jacob Meyers, 19 years, Protestant, per Marquis of Huntley 1826
GS (Government Servant), Shepherd in household of Jonathn HASSALL, Newberry, Macquarie Plains, Bathurst District

OBIT
Mr Jacob Myers, an old resident of Yass, and who was in business as a butcher in Cooma, some years ago, died at Waterloo,  Sydney, last Saturday, in his 90th year.  Deceased was the father of Mr Abraham Myers, of Queanbeyan, was one of the oldest Freemasons in the colony and was always well respected by many friends.  https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/114514400  Manaro Merc. 12 June 1880

Not sure how the chap who died in June 1880 can actually be confirmed as the one on the Marquis of Marquis 1826.

ADD notice there's an Initial (H) for middle name  :)

Now.
Here is an Obituary for a man named Solomon MEYER. 1902
It mentions the deceased was a BROTHER of Abraham MEYER,  the storekeeper of Queanbeyan.
Also that Abraham and (from what I can understand), all his family drowned in the wreck of the Dunbar in around 1857.
