Power Family
« on: Wednesday 11 April 12 17:59 BST (UK) »
Please bear with me I'm new to this forum lark. I have so far located my grandfather birth Wexford City Charles Power 1908 Thomas Street but carnt find him or his parents  Stephen Power his wife Kate Power/kelly on the 1911 census.
I came across his marriage 1931 wexford city but there the trail runs cold.
Has anyone else got these people on their tree?

What's Stephen's occupation on the birth cert  ?

see : Introduction to Irish Records

p.s. it's Wexford town, not city.

Hello there, Thanks for your reply. :)
Stephen profession given as Tinsmith. This is stated again on Charles marriage details, he too like his father is Tinsmith. The other intersting thing is that residence shows vagus.

there are a few Powers with the occupation Tin Smith on the 1911 census - but none in Wexford and no Stephens..

see : 1911, power tinsmiths

similar results for 1901

I cant think of any variations in spelling for Power, but I suppose it could have been mistranscribed, or difficult to read..

The fact that he was a 'wanderer' might mean he was missed from the census.
A Stephen Power has same registration details as a Catherine Kelly in Shillelagh Reg District 2nd quarter 1906. Volume 2, page 859.

To assist further can you elaborate on where exactly you "located" and "came across" the birth & marriage references to a "Wexford City"?  Are there any further details re the 1931 marriage, e.g. name of the church?

Hello there Shorts,
Marriage details from researcher in Ireland.   RC Church of Wexford in district of Wexford. I understand it is town not city as this has been pointed out to me. Birth details came about the same way another reseacher. Orginal information I had was Charles had a daughter Mary when she married his details were on her marriage certificate and those of his wife.
I keep thinking having a nagging thought I may have got this wrong.
