Francis MONEY ca1699

Francis MONEY married Elizabeth WASHBOURNE at Bromyard, Herefordshire 1 Oct 1723 and was noted as a "Maltster" of Wellingborough.  Elizabeth was born at or near Pytchley, Northamptonshire abt 1699, so assuming Francis is of close or same age.

They had two children at Wellingborough:  James MONEY chr 25 Sep 1724 (became Lt. Colonel and much is written about him); and (2) Mary MONEY who was born and died 1726 aged 3 weeks.  Mother Elizabeth also died 2 March 1726 at Wellingborough.  There is also much information regarding the WASHBOURNE family, but Francis is not mentioned.

It is known that James was raised by his maiden aunts so what happened to Francis MONEY?   

If anyone can help me locate further information on Francis MONEY, I would be most grateful.

Two (possibly interesting) entries on the Northamptonshire Marriage Index (1700-1837):

1719/20 - Francis MONEY (gent.) to Kezia UNDERWOOD (of Wellingborough) at Great Harrowden

Possible first/previous marriage for Francis?

1755 - Francis MONEY (otp) to Jane GOODGER/GUDGER (otp) at Helpston

Possible subsequent marriage for Francis?  As Francis's son was raised by aunts, it would seem unlikely that Francis married again soon after the death of his wife (something often done by widowers with a young family).

There are only two other marriages for a Francis MONEY on the index - one in 1783 and one in 1821.

The above marriages may be worth further investigation.

I also have a copy of the National Burial Index and will have a look for Francis on that later on today.

Have just come across the following (extracted) baptism record on the IGI:

St. Owen, Hereford - 20 NOV 1696 - Francis MONNYE, s. Francis and Anne

Bromyard is approx. 10 miles NE of Hereford!

What incredible information - I am sure (given the unusual occurrences of the name Francis MONEY) that you have uncovered possible marriages for our man and a baptismal date.

I am so overjoyed and will continue to see what else can be found for him.  I just could not quite come to grips with the story that he went to America and became a dance instructor!!

I looked at the original burials for Irthlingborough which are in
a terrible condition as are all of the early Parish Records.

Keziah died just after William was born and is noted in them.
