I've cleaned your picture, although not requested, and I will remove it if you so wish, regards, John.

Thanks very much for the quick reply and the very precise date, which will prove useful in tracking her down. Can you tell me what it is about the photo that gives you that date? I'm not querying it at all, I'm just interested to know what you see there.

Cheers

Mike

Jim  - she looks much better cleaned up, thanks for doing that

Not that I would ever, ever argue with Jim (Hi Jim ;D)...but I'd take his date of 1912 along with the +2 years, but not the -2 years :D

The lady's hairstyle, known as a loose pompadour, came out in about 1912 and lasted a few years until the puffed out look disappeared during the war.

By the way, the photographer really should have suggested that the lady fix her necklace before taking the picture. IMHO. :P :)

Cheers,

Superb, that's the sort of detail that I haven't a clue about.

Jim and John - sorry for mixing your names up on my last post. Thank you all three, anyway.

That looks fantastic, David.

Yes, I love these photos. They belonged to my great aunt, and the reason for wanting to date them is so that I can match them up with possible family members. I've a few more to go yet and then I'll start trying to fit them into the jigsaw.
