Artist Victor Pasmore
« on: Sunday 15 April 12 20:22 BST (UK) »
Hello,
I have a relative who believes she is related on her mother's side of the family to the artist Victor Pasmore.
So far I've found out that his birth name was Edwin John Victor Pasmore and he was born on 3rd December 1908.  Free bmd has him registered March q 1909 Godstone, Surrey Edward John V. Pasmore.
He was the son of physician Dr. Edwin S. Pasmore and his wife Gertrude.   I can't find any family in the 1911 census matching this information, so I was wondering if anyone here can find them as I can then use it as a start to find the link to my relative.
Thanks.   :)

I think you will find that Edwin Stephen was born in about 1865.

Gertrude Eva is an interesting one.  There is a Gertrude Eva Screech, father John, born in c 1884.  The wedding details certainly suggest that she was "of gentle birth", but the only Gertrude Eva Screech I can see, was born in East London in 1884 and her father doesn't seem to have been a "gentleman".  If it is indeed her, the baptism shows him as a police constable.

I think Gertrude Screech was a servant in the household of a Clergyman in Street, Somerset in 1901

Thanks for your replies.  I think my relative's great grandfather is Obadiah Pasmore who's living in South Soneham in 1901 and born in Motticombe, Devon in 1852.   I can't see a connection with Victor's family so far, unless I have the wrong great grandfather.   :)
