HERRING Family, Marsh Gibbon
« on: Wednesday 18 May 05 16:54 BST (UK) »
Over the last 12 years, I have been researching my HERRING family and have quite a bit of research relating to my family and other branches.  If you have the surname HERRING in your family tree, I am happy to pass on any info I may have.

Hi Jan

Not sure if there will be a connection, but my g X 2 grandmother Ann Burnham/Baldwin married a William Herring (DOB 1815) in Worminghall Bucks approx 1862/66.

The 1871 census shows them with 3 children James,John and Mary Ann. Also Williams mother Rebecca born approx 1790 in Merton Oxfordshire.

Let me know if you think they could be the same family.

best regards
Christine

Hi Jan & Christine,
I have an extensive tree for my LOWE family, mainly in Worminghall around 1700-1850.
I have a Lucy LOWE (Bp 27.04.1828) married James Herring
(Banns 11/1846) at Saints Peter & Paul, Worminghall.
There were many other HERRING folk mentioned in the Worminghall Parish Records - it could pay you to check that film out at an L.D.S. Family History Centre.
Cheers,
Mike

Hi Ollie

No sorry, no links to Somerset.  My research is mainly around Marsh Gibbon in Bucks, Ickford in Oxfordshire, Barford in Warwickshire and then the East End in London.

Hello Jan - I am rather late coming in on your post re the Herring family but I think my family have a connection with the Herrings through the names Young, Jones, Cator to name but a few - all coming from Marsh Gibbon - do those names mean anything to you ?      Regards   grossan

Hi Jan,
I am another late comer with a connection to the Herrings of
Ickford. I wonder if you could help to settle a nagging question that I have left alone for years.

My problem is the three Mary Herrings born in Ickford, 1732,
1734 and 1739. One of them married Richard Casemore in 1765 and was my 4xgt grandmother, but which one was it?
Unless it was yet another Mary Herring ( it did say of Haseley
on the marriage entry). I have decided that Mary born in 1734 is the most likely, but I don't really know. Can you help? If you know which one it was, ignore the next question.

I have a couple of clues that require information from the Ickford burial records to help settle the matter. If you have the Herring burials , would you please look up burial  date for Sarah Herring (nee Justice, wife of Rowland Herring). Another researcher has her dates as 1709-1806, but I don't trust the source as there are no exact dates.  Also, if it's not too much trouble (and if you have it), could you look for the burial  date of Mary Casemore (nee Herring). I have 1824, but may be the wrong Mary. I know that most families had a Mary or two, but the Herrings and the Casemores really over did it. ;D

Regards,
Carmela
