Jane HODGES (nee MARTIN)
« on: Friday 20 April 12 16:03 BST (UK) »
Am trying to locate what happened to my  2ndgreat granmother Jane Hodges. She married William Hodges in Stithians in 1864 and appears with him on the censuses up to 1881 living in Mylor. After this she disappears. The 1891 census shows her younger children living with relatives and the oldest son living with his father William, who later moved into Falmouth.
I can find no death record for her nor have I found any emigration record. Anyone know what happened to her? ???

Thanks for your help.
Her birth year is 1842, born in Stithians, daughter of Thomas & Mary Martin. She had a brother, William, with whom one of Jane's children lived in Falmouth, after the split from Wm. Hodges.
Have checked the 1901 census reference but I don't think it's her. :)

My William Hodges died in 1918. He was in Calamansac on the 1901 census and in Budock Workhouse in the 1911 census.  :)

I see that William was described as a 'widower' in the 1901 census so assume that Jane passed away but can't find any record of it

Hi there, thanks for your message re William & Jane Hodges. I have seen the entry for William for the 1911 census which you mention, but as you say, no trace of Jane. her last mention is on the 1881 census.

I know it's been a while since you put your queery in but whether somebody could look up the buriels in the district that they were living in they may  find a buriel.  There was an ancestor of mine (strangely enough a Hodges no relation to yours) and I never did find his death, it was only by chance looking up church buriels that I came across his by buriel.  Again I looked for his registered death and it has never been recorded. It is worth a try even though there may not be a buriel and it could be some other reason she is not around.
